The Practice does most additional services by appointments to allow maximum flexibility of attendance times by the patient. Some services where more than 1 Health Professional is being seen are run as Clinics i.e., Child Health and Ante Natal.

ANTENATAL
Care/Postnatal Care is provided by our attached midwife, supported by Dr Lau, Dr Wilson & Dr Sheward. Patients are seen throughout pregnancy, liaising with the hospital service.

CHILD HEALTH SURVEILLANCE
Health Visitors review babies and infants regularly through the early years to ensure that they are developing satisfactorily. The Doctors do the Medical Checks.

DIABETES
Diabetes is an important cause of preventable disability and illness. All patients with diabetes should be seen at least twice per year, whether at the surgery or at the hospital. We have a regular Diabetic review Clinic with input from Dr J Sheward, the Practice Nurse, Podiatry and Dietitian.


OTHER CLINICS:-
Regular annual check-ups are available with the nurse on a range of diseases to include:-
• Diabetes
• Asthma & COPD
• Coronary Heart Disease
• Epilepsy
• Hypothyroidism
• Hypertension
• Stroke and TIA
• Rheumatoid Arthritis

VACCINATIONS

TRAVEL
If you are planning to travel abroad, please book an appointment to see the nurse at least 6 – 8 weeks before traveling to allow time for the full course of injections. Our Practice nurse will advise you about any precautions that should be taken for the country you are traveling to. Please complete attached form and return it to the surgery at least 1 week before your first appointment for travel health advice, a form should be completed for each person that will be traveling.

FLU & PNEUMOVAC
Clinics are run from October to February.
Ask at Reception for further information about any of our vaccination programmes.

Ear Syringing
It is advisable to use oil in the ears twice a day for at least 3 days prior to your appointment. This can be purchased over the counter at the chemist. DO NOT use oil if you have had any previous ear perforations or ear surgery. In this instance, make an appointment to see the Nurse first.

CERVICAL CYTOLOGY
All woman aged between 20 and 60 are advisable to have regular smears every 3 years for early detection of changes or abnormalities. Appointments with our Practice Nurse

CONTRACEPTIVE SERVICES
Contraceptive advice is provided by all the doctors and by our Practice Nurse. The fitting of intra-uterine devices (the coil), Implanon and diaphragms is undertaken by appointment. (Please contact the Reception Desk for more information).

WART CLINICS
Warts and verrucas can be treated by freezing. It is undertaken by the doctors. Liquid nitrogen is only available on Wednesdays when wart Clinic appointments can be booked. An initial assessment by the Doctor is necessary.
