TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

Please either call at the reception desk or telephone the surgery during office hours. The receptionists will do their best to arrange for you to see a specific doctor or any member of the team at a time convent to you depending on availability. If your problem is medically urgent you will be seen the same day by the first available doctor. On arrival at the Surgery, always report to Reception to verify your attendance.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO BE ON TIME FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT. IF YOU ARE LATE YOU MAY NOT BE SEEN.
CONSULTATIONS

Consultations are by appointment with the Doctor/Nursing Staff. Routine appointments are normally 10 minutes with the General practitioner, emergency appointments are 5 minutes, please keep within these times. Some consultations may require a longer time and need to be arranged specifically with the Doctor/Nurse.

TELEPHONE CONSULTATION WITH YOUR DOCTOR

For routine enquiries such as blood and x ray results the Doctor will take the telephone calls between:

CHAPERONES

If you would prefer to have another person present during your appointment please let the receptionist know and they will be happy to make arrangements for you.

NON ATTENDANCE

If a patient fails to cancel or attend an appointment three times in any 12 month period, we will send on a first instance letter to draw this to their attention. If a further failure of attendance occurs we will then ask that the patient registers at another practice.

HOME VISITS

Most of our patients come to the surgery because we are able to give a higher standard of care there, and doctors’ travelling time is saved means there is more time available for consultations. If you are too ill to attend the surgery, however, you will certainly be visited but please call as soon after 8.30 am as possible, as the doctor may want to speak to you. Non-urgent visits will be around noon.

WEEKEND, EVENING AND NIGHT CALLS

When the Surgery closes the telephones are connected to an answering machine which will give the contact telephone number of the services providing out of hours cover throughout Ayrshire. This is a service for urgent care that cannot wait until the Surgery reopens. This number is 08454 242424.
